Residents invited to help create a new community orchard in Pinhoe

Published: 15 February 2022

A community orchard is being created at Library Fields, in Pinhoe

Residents are being invited to take part in tree planting to create a new community orchard in Pinhoe.

Planting will take place for the Library Fields Community Orchard on Friday 25 February, from 11am to 1pm.

People are asked to meet in Library Fields park.

As well as tree planting the community event includes free trees to plant at home, craft activities, scavenger trail, litter pick and books giveaway.

The project is supported by the City Council, Saving Devon’s Treescape and Wild Pinhoe.

The orchard will provide fruit for the local community and a place for people to come together and be involved in activities such as pruning and apple days.

The orchard will become part of the ‘Queen’s Green Canopy’, celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

Trees for the project are being donated by Saving Devon’s Treescapes. To find out more about the Devon Wildlife initiative visit their website
