Diners sample Italian delights raising much needed funds for charity

Diners sampled the delights of Italy at a charity meal

An Italian themed dinner has raised £400 for FORCE Cancer Charity.

The Lord Mayor of Exeter, Cllr Kevin Mitchell, hosted the culinary event at Exeter College’s @34 Restaurant.

Cllr Mitchell, who is a cancer nurse, chose FORCE earlier this year as his chosen charity.

Thirty-nine people attended the gastronomic event, including members of the public, councillors and civic dignitaries. They were treated to a four course Italian meal including savoury appetisers and deserts.

Money raised from the event will go to FORCE to help individuals and families impacted by cancer.

Food for the event was prepared and served by the students at the restaurant. @34 helps train the students to become the culinary talents of the future

Cllr Mitchell said: “Everyone present agreed the quality of the food and service last night was amazing and I would like to thank all @34 for the thoughtful and authentic menu.

“I very much enjoyed the tortellini to start, the red mullet was so tender, the mussels really added something special and to top things off the panna cotta was just perfect.

“The night was in aid of such an amazing cause too, anyone who has had any contact with FORCE will know the outstanding work they do for anyone with a cancer diagnosis and their loved ones, so it is vital we continue to promote this amazing local charity and raise as much as we can.”
