New literary map to be launched at Book Market Literary map of Exeter and Devon

A new literary map of Exeter and Devon is set to be unveiled at a Book Market on Sunday and people are being invited to pop along and grab a copy.

The literary map features book shops, literary landmarks and popular reading spots in Exeter and across the county and has been created by Exeter UNESCO City of Literature.

A while back, people were asked to vote for their favourite places to read. City of Lit then compiled the best of the bunch and combined them with a whole host of book shops and historic literary landmarks.

The result is a fabulously colourful and informative literary map of Exeter and Devon which has been designed by Rosetta at Get the Zest Design & Illustration and will be available at Sunday’s Book Market.

The literary event takes place on the Cathedral steps between 11am and 4pm. Head down to the idyllic location for a day of bookish delights with independent bookshops from across Devon, local food and drink, and plenty of literary activities.

People will be able to support a whole host of bookshops from Exeter, Okehampton, Ashburton, Honiton, Ivybridge and elsewhere.

Book worms will then be able to feast on fabulous food from Ten Fifty, Daily Bowl, How On Earth Deli, and Cake or Death.

There’ll be a chance to have a go at paper-making with Pulp2 and book-binding with Plymouth Book Co-op. Attendees will be able to try out an old school typewriter from Francis Kay Vintage, and learn how to play the adventure storytelling board game Circle Tales. There’ll also be a chance to see The Pelican Press in action - the first wheelchair printing press by The Pelican Project & Positive Light Projects.
