More celebrations as Exeter Chiefs Women parade through city Exeter Chiefs Women’s Team

Hundreds of Rugby fans packed Exeter city centre on Monday evening to celebrate the success of the Exeter Chiefs Women’s Team.

The successful team were greeted by fans during an open-top bus parade down the High Street. The ladies were then treated to a civic reception at the historic Guildhall.

After just two seasons the Exeter Chiefs Women’s Team not only won the Allianz Cup but also made runners up in the Premier 15s Finals.

In a statement, the club said: "In only their second season together, this incredible group led by head-coach Susie Appleby, have laid the foundations for a legacy of Women’s Rugby in the Southwest and broken the monopoly of success which the London-based clubs have enjoyed for several seasons.

"It has long been a tradition of the club to mark major milestones with an Open Top Bus parade, and the achievements of this squad deserve no less celebration.”

The buses travelled from St James’ Park, making their way along Sidwell Street and the High Street, before arriving at the Guildhall where the team were greeted by the Lord Mayor of Exeter, Cllr Yolonda Henson.

Members of the coaches and playing squad took to the Guildhall balcony to raise their Allianz Cup trophy and celebrate with fans.

The Lord Mayor of Exeter, Cllr Yolonda Henson said: "We as a city couldn't be more prouder of the Exeter Chiefs Women’s Team who have accomplished so much in such a short time."
