Get out and about on Exeter’s Green Circle walking route Exeter Green Circle

People in Exeter and beyond are being encouraged to get out on the Green Circle, a 12-mile circular walking route around the city.

The Green Circle was a local Instagram hit during lockdown, when many residents began to the explore parts of the city they’ve never discovered before.

Now the Green Circle is featured on the free walking app, Go Jauntly. Live and Move, the Sport England Pilot, working to make lives better by encouraging people to be more physically active every day, are hoping the app will help get more people out and about, exercising, having fun and experiencing what the Green Circle has to offer.

The route is made up of five shorter walks, taking the walker through some of the most green and pleasant parts of Exeter.

Go Jauntly - ‘a walking app for everyday outdoor adventures’ - has created guided walks for the whole Green Circle, each of the five local walks, and are forming additional routes to support accessibility.

Cllr Josie Parkhouse, Lead Councillor for Leisure Services & Physical Activity, said: “The Green Circle is right on our doorstep, so ideal for exercising without having to take the car.

“The beauty of the Green Circle is that you can do as little or as much of the route as you want, which means it’s ideal for a short stroll or a day hike.”

For those who would prefer to read about the walks in the Exeter area, there’s also a handy

guide available produced by Exeter Ramblers called ‘Walking around Exeter’.
