Two important deadlines are rapidly approaching ahead of elections on 2 May for Exeter City Council and the Police and Crime Commissioner for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Voter identification:

Everyone voting in person at a polling station, including those acting as a proxy on behalf of another individual, will be required to produce an accepted form of photographic ID to prove their identity before they can be issued with a ballot paper.

If anyone does not have a type of photo ID that allows you to vote, you can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate at https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate.

The deadline for applying for a voter ID in the 2 May election is 5pm on Wednesday 24 April.

Proxy votes:

Anyone unable to vote due to physical incapacity, are away from home due to work or study, or will be away on holiday on polling day, and wants someone to vote on their behalf at a polling station, you can apply for a proxy vote.

Instructions for applying for a proxy vote at be found at https://exeter.gov.uk/proxyvotes/. The deadline for applying for a proxy vote in the 2 May election is 5pm on Wednesday 24 April.
