Last chance to apply for postal vote for City Council elections Apply for a postal vote

Voters have until 5pm today to apply for a postal vote in this year’s City Council elections.

People can choose to vote in a number of ways – in person, by post or by appointing someone they trust to vote in their place, known as a proxy vote.

The deadline for completed applications for a postal vote is 5pm on Tuesday 19 April, and for new completed proxy vote applications the deadline is 5pm on 26 April.

For information on elections in Exeter, how to register to vote, or how to apply to vote by post or by proxy, voters can visit www.electoralcommission.org.uk/voter.

On Thursday 5 May residents in Exeter will be voting to elect 17 City Councillors in all 13 wards across the city, as four by-elections are also being held on that day.

Voters in the Exwick, Heavitree, Priory and Pennsylvania wards can vote for up to two candidates on their ballot papers.

Nominations have now closed for this year’s elections. A Summary of Candidates Nominated in each of the 13 wards is now available on the Council’s website.

A total of 55 polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm on 5 May.
