Heat as a Service

Housing Survey Heat as a Service

As part of a government funded competition City Science, in partnership with Exeter City Council, are investigating how new energy services could help improve the energy efficiency of homes.

Nationwide it is estimated that there has been very little improvement in reducing the amount of energy used for heating homes over the last 4 - 5 years, or the carbon emissions associated with this energy.

It is in the financial interest of many energy companies to sell you as much energy as possible, and hence, apart from obligations, very little effort has been made to improve the thermal efficiency of homes.

Heat as a Service is a new potential offering which would align the financial interest of energy companies with improving the thermal energy efficiency of homes. This is achieved by making contracts selling outcomes (why you want to heat) rather than energy (for example paying for the time rooms are heated to certain temperatures)

This survey has been designed to gather information to understand how this new service can be adapted to your needs.
