Heat as a Service
Published: 13 November 2020
As part of a government funded competition City Science, in partnership with Exeter City Council, are investigating how new energy services could help improve the energy efficiency of homes.
Nationwide it is estimated that there has been very little improvement in reducing the amount of energy used for heating homes over the last 4 - 5 years, or the carbon emissions associated with this energy.
It is in the financial interest of many energy companies to sell you as much energy as possible, and hence, apart from obligations, very little effort has been made to improve the thermal efficiency of homes.
Heat as a Service is a new potential offering which would align the financial interest of energy companies with improving the thermal energy efficiency of homes. This is achieved by making contracts selling outcomes (why you want to heat) rather than energy (for example paying for the time rooms are heated to certain temperatures)
This survey has been designed to gather information to understand how this new service can be adapted to your needs.
Completing this survey, with care, will make you eligible for £100 prize draw towards your winter heating bills.
Other eligibility criteria are that you are a council tenant and that you add your email address to the survey.
The prize winner will be notified by email in December 2020 and instructions given on how to receive the prize
