Published: 22 February 2023

Nobby Stiles with his son John

The life of World Cup winner Nobby Stiles will be explored at a charity event in Exeter on 8 March.

Nobby’s son John will be speaking at Exeter’s historic Guildhall, with all proceeds from the event going to the Lord Mayor of Exeter’s chosen charity, the Exeter Dementia Action Alliance.

Tickets are still available to purchase.

John will be talking about the story of the “little man”, his dad Nobby Stiles, who against the odds became a World Cup Football Champion. He will also share his family’s journey with Nobby’s dementia. There will also be an opportunity for all guests to ask John any questions in the Q&A section at the end.

The talk is part of the Lord Mayor of Exeter’s Charity Wine and Canapes Evening on Wednesday 8 March, between 6pm and 9pm.

The event, which is sponsored by Rodney Spiller Wealth Management, Southern Healthcare, Devon Contract Waste, will also include an auction, raffle and the opportunity to have a personalised cartoon drawn by cartoonist, Tony Husband.

Tickets, priced £22, are available from the Exeter Corn Exchange website at https://www.exetercornexchange.co.uk/whats-on/john-stiles-remembers-his-dear-dad-nobby/
