Residents needing help on what can and what can’t be recycled in Exeter is now available in a handy on-line A-Z of materials.

A new and updated A-Z of materials provides a comprehensive list of exactly what can be recycled and what should be placed in the black bin.

It is aimed at helping to end the confusion over whether certain items can and should be recycled. It is hoped that the list will encourage residents to recycle more of their day-to-day household items and avoid unnecessary waste being discarded in the black bins.

The new webpage contains a comprehensive list of items and materials, and what should be done with them for residents living in Exeter. It’s now so thorough it even tells people how to dispose of staples!

Cllr Ruth Williams, Lead Councillor for Place and City Management said: “As councillors, we are often asked what people can and cannot put in their green recycling bin. We’re really keen in Exeter to make recycling as easy to understand as possible so that more and more people can get into the recycling habit and less and less can go into household waste and in turn help the environment.”

The Recycling A-Z - now available on the City Council’s website at www.exeter.gov.uk/recycle

If anyone notices anything they think should be added to the list, they can get in touch by emailing recycling@exeter.gov.uk
