Full steam ahead for model railway exhibition at Exeter’s Matford Centre Model railway exhibition

Final preparations are underway for the much-anticipated annual Exe Model Railway Society’s 2023 Model Railway Exhibition.

It takes place on Saturday 22 July from 10am to 5pm, and Sunday 23 July from 10am to 4pm, at the Matford Livestock Centre.

The exhibition will showcase over 40 different layouts and demonstrations, and a large number of notable model railways will be on display.

An array of demonstrations and activities will be held, including Robert’s Railway Repairs, Modern Modelling Demonstration, and Exeter 0 Gauge Group. Various associations will also be in attendance such as 2mm Scale Association, DEMU, EM Gauge Society, and South Western Circle.

Traders expected to attend include Wessex Wagons, K&M Trees, Mudmagnet Models, Chris’ Crafts and Model Railways, Atwood Aggregates, Modelworks, Bachmann Collectors Club, DMG Electech, David Smith’s Railway Books, Rob Doidge railwayana, Platform 3 models, Make Awesome 3D printed products, RCTS, Richard Panes’ Spares and Totem’s While You Wait.

This year, there’s an exciting new addition - the Exeter & District Model Engineers are offering live steam rides outside for £2 per person per ride.

The entrance fee is £7.50, with free admission for accompanied children. The venue is disability-friendly and offers ample free parking. Visitors can also enjoy the on-site restaurant.
