Exeter Festival up and running

Published: 5 July 2019

Exeter Festival is underway

It’s finally arrived – Exeter Festival is underway!

Three days of entertainment in the city has begun. Friday night is film night and the Festival gets going with screenings of the hit Queen flick Bohemian Rhapsody (now sold out) and The Greatest Showman (tickets still available) in the beautiful surrounds of Northernhay Gardens.

The Festival promises to be a weekend of fun, with live music, outdoor film screenings and bags of activities for all the family in Northernhay Gardens and around Exeter.

Events are free or affordable and there’s still time to get your tickets.

On Saturday it’s Festival in the Park. The day starts at 10:30am with a Park Yoga Class for all the family to enjoy. Then it’s five hours of free local music featuring the best local sounds around followed by the ticketed Hoosiers and Joey the Lips event in the evening.

The Sunday (7 July) is a Funday in the Park featuring a day of entertainment and activity for all the family. The day kicks off with a ticketed screening of Mary Poppins Returns at 10am.

From 12 noon to 4pm there will be a free four-hour programme of demonstrations on the stage delivered by Legacy Leisure and dance company Capoeira Libertacao. There’s no need to book – just turn up and enjoy the fun.

A host of organisations will be putting on activities in the park throughout the afternoon, including the Exeter City Community Trust, Planet Earth Games, St Luke’s School, South West Athletics Academy, Committed Dance Company, Ride On, Tennis for Free, Devon Wildlife Trust and Freemoovement.

A special Exeter Blue Boy trail will also be held on the day, a free fun activity trail with things to find across the city to celebrate Exeter’s rich heritage and its famous Blue Boy statue.
