Come on down and enjoy the quay as wall works progress Exeter Quay

It’s business as usual on Exeter Quay over the Bank Holiday weekend as work continues to progress on strengthening a high-profile wall close to the waterside.

The message to tourists, shoppers and those out for a walk, run or cycle is “come on down, it’s business as usual.”

Repair and stabilisation works are being carried out by Exeter City Council to a 105-metre stretch of cliff face wall above Exeter Quay on the city centre side of the River Exe.

Work started in February and has progressed well with several areas now complete. However, the original programme has had to be extended following the discovery of a large void behind an unsupported section near the top of the wall. This required additional structural design and construction work to make this safe and secure into the future.

The works are now expected to be completed by 14 June and the Council hopes to have the scaffolding removed ahead of the late May Bank Holiday.

The City Council would like to thank businesses, residents and visitors for their patience and understanding during the time of the works and has tried to keep everyone up-to-date whilst the project has progressed and any disruption to a minimum.
