Tenants Handbook Updated advice for tenants

Exeter City Council’s Private Tenants’ Handbook has been updated.

The handbook covers many aspects of renting from finding a home, to what health and safety issues to consider all the way through to ending a tenancy. Exeter’s private tenants can use it as a reference to help avoid problems when renting and where to find help and advice when it’s needed.

  • Finding somewhere to rent
  • What letting agents do
  • What documents will I need
  • Information on deposits and rent
  • Different types of tenancies
  • Damage and repairs
  • Rogue Landlords
  • Shared accommodation

There is also a new Private Tenant Checklist available to sit alongside the handbook that can be used as a reference to the basic and responsibilities and obligations that need to be considered when entering in to a new assured shorthold tenancy (AST).
