Updated advice for tenants on our web site
Published: 16 December 2020
Exeter City Council’s Private Tenants’ Handbook has been updated.
The handbook covers many aspects of renting from finding a home, to what health and safety issues to consider all the way through to ending a tenancy. Exeter’s private tenants can use it as a reference to help avoid problems when renting and where to find help and advice when it’s needed.
- Finding somewhere to rent
- What letting agents do
- What documents will I need
- Information on deposits and rent
- Different types of tenancies
- Damage and repairs
- Rogue Landlords
- Shared accommodation
There is also a new Private Tenant Checklist available to sit alongside the handbook that can be used as a reference to the basic and responsibilities and obligations that need to be considered when entering in to a new assured shorthold tenancy (AST).
