Task and finish group to look at rollout of 5G in Exeter

A task and finish group is being set up to look at the impact of installing a 5G network across the city of Exeter following concerns from public.

More than 1,100 people signed a petition calling on the rollout of 5G in Exeter to be halted until an independent investigation had been carried out. Those signing the petition have expressed concerns about the potential impacts of 5G on health.

The petition was initially sent to Devon County Council but has been referred to the City Council as it is responsible for planning permission in the city.

Last night (Thursday) dozens of members of the public packed into the Civic Centre in Exeter to hear members of the new Strategic Scrutiny Committee agree to set up a task and finish group to look into all aspects of 5G in Exeter and its rollout.

The task and finish group will meet in the New Year. There is expected to be several meetings over a number of months and the group is expected to seek independent advice from outside bodies, on issues including technical and health matters. The task group may also seek representations from other local authorities where concerns have been raised.
