Tackling loneliness together

Tackling Loneliness Together Trust Tackling loneliness together

Over the last few months, it’s been harder to see friends and family, and many activities and events have been paused, postponed, or cancelled. Lots of us have been spending more time on our own and have had less to do.

Exeter CITY Community Trust are running a project to help members of the community to stay connected in Exeter. It’s a great way to make new friends or get back in touch with old ones, and it is all FREE to access.

Virtual Events

They have a regular schedule of virtual activities, from Beginner’s IT to a Weekend Sports Chat. Here’s their current timetable which started on Monday 24th August:

  • Monday 10:00-10:30 – Beginner’s IT
  • Monday 14:00-15:00 – Exeter City FC Team Talk
  • Tuesday 14:00-15:00 – Bake and Chat
  • Friday 13:00-14:00 – Weekend Sports Chat

These sessions will be delivered through Zoom and all you need is a computer or phone and the link.

Intergenerational Pen Pals

Talk about your week, your interests, and almost anything else with somebody from a different generation.

Over the Garden Gate Chats

Their staff would love to visit and have a socially-distanced chat with you about how you’re doing.

Telephone Befriending

Get matched up with another member of the community with similar interests for regular chats over the phone.

To make sure Exeter CITY Community Trust can connect people to whichever kind of activity and support they’d prefer and is suitable, they ask that anybody who is interested in taking part fills in their details on the Exeter CITY Community Trust website and a member of their staff will be in touch in the coming days.
