Students - Are you registered to vote in Exeter?

Published: 21 November 2019

Students currently studying in Exeter can choose to vote in Exeter rather than their home constituency.

To be able to vote in either the Exeter or East Devon Parliamentary constituencies, they must be a resident in the relevant part of the city.

If they have not recently received a poll card or registered to vote in the last two weeks they will need to take action to register to vote with Exeter City Council.

Students will only be entitled to vote once in the Parliamentary election. Anyone who votes more than once may commit an offence.

The deadline for registration is Tuesday, 26 November 2019. The best way to register is online on the GOV.UK Register to Vote website.

Students in Exeter on polling day who wish to vote in respect of their home constituency will need to apply for a postal vote (deadline 5pm, 26 November) or appoint a proxy (deadline 5pm, 4 December).

Further information can be obtained here Electoral Commission How to Cast Your Vote website.
