Smiles better in Exeter with free family fun

Published: 17 August 2023

Smiles all around at Summer Activity Day

It was smiles all around in Exeter as families enjoyed a fun-packed Summer Activity Day.

The all-inclusive event at Wonford Playing Fields was hosted by Exeter City Council’s Housing team for its tenants and leaseholders.

The sun shone and there were activities for all ages, including storytelling sessions, arts and crafts activities, wildlife activities and fun outdoor games.

People were able to help make a bee hotel, decorate a bird box or have a go at the ever-popular tug-of-war. Devon Wildlife Trust, who manage Exeter’s six valley parks on behalf of the City Council – including the nearby Ludwell Valley Park – brought some colour to the event with face-painting.

Cllr Barbara Denning, Lead Councillor for Council Housing Development and Support Services, said: “Exeter City Council is a very proud landlord and these activity days are a great way to bring residents together.

“It was great to see so many of our tenants and leaseholders and the sun managed to shine for this free community event.”
