Some of the area’s biggest names in food and drink will feature at a unique two-day rooftop market festival in Exeter this summer.

The Guildhall Shopping and Dining Centre’s rooftop car park will be transformed for the free event on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 August.

The first of its kind in the city, Guildfest Rooftop Market Festival will wow with its stunning views across Exeter to Haldon and beyond. As well as food and drink, there will be all day entertainment and fun family activities.

Nikki Fairclough, event organiser and marketing manager for Guildhall Shopping Centre, said: “This local market festival will celebrate all things Exeter and west country, showcasing great local brands and the amazing things they do in the city.

“Family friendly and pet friendly, we encourage people to come along and enjoy great food from the best street food traders and restaurants in Exeter, great drinks from on site brands and local breweries, and big break out spaces filled with arts and crafts, including local independents stalls and workshops by some very talented makers.”

There will be something for everyone, with local musicians playing acoustic sessions, DJs, artists painting live and Chefs’ tables, all with a stunning view over the rolling Devon hills. Heavily subsidised arts and street art workshops will be on offer in the tented area of the festival.

Cocktails will be on offer from The Terrace, Atlantic Spirit and Thunderflower will be running gin bars, Two Drifters Distillery will be creating a rum bar, there will be a cider bar courtesy of Bar Nova, and many other local breweries, including Powderkeg Brewery and Cross Anchors, will also be providing refreshments.

Nikki added: “This market festival is all about taking a city centre space and transforming it into something really special. The car park top deck is a huge open-air space with lots of space to be socially distant and enjoy either the views in either the sun or shade of the marquees we will be putting up. We are very grateful for the work that Exeter City Council has done to help facilitate this event and allowing us to repurpose a space for public enjoyment.

“We will have interesting break out areas for people to soak up the sunshine or enjoy a meal in the shade and the best of the best brands both on site and from around the county providing great food, drink, produce and entertainment in a Covid safe space with lots of space to roam.”

Nikki is now taking trader enquiries from food and drink producers, as well as crafters, makers, and musicians. All brands across the city are welcome to enquire about space as this event is about celebrating Exeter and the great producers and makers in and around it.
