Rolling out the green carpet for family-friendly festival in Exeter

Published: 25 June 2024

Denis will be on display at Green Phoenix Festival

People are being invited to a day-long family festival celebrating sustainability, community and the arts.

Recycling tips from Exeter City Council’s Denis the Dustcart and vegan soup making workshop from Love Food and partners are among some of the many highlights at the Green Phoenix Festival on Sunday 30 June.

Exeter Phoenix is excited to be hosting the event in partnership with Ethical Power and a wide range of local groups, organisations and individuals.

The festival aims to raise awareness of the climate crisis, shining a light on the many ways that everyone can do their bit and celebrating the excellent work taking place locally.

Festival goers will be invited to take part in sustainable crafting, learn more about ecological issues such as renewable energy and be inspired to protect the environment through art and creative performances, engaging with nature and the world around us.

Everyone is invited to join in celebrating the planet and the steps we can all take together as a community to protect it.

There will be a packed programme of presentations, panel discussions, workshops and creative activities completely free of charge to the local community. Some of this activity includes:

From 11am to 5pm: XR Open Mic + community stalls + Ride On’s smoothie bike in the auditorium

From 11am – 4pm: Disco Soup - vegan soup making for all ages with Love Food & partners

11am: Print, Plants and Pollinators workshop exploring the biodiversity of the former Countess Wear paper mill with The Double Elephant Print Workshop

4:30pm: A specially curated screening of inspiring nature films from Wildscreen Film Festival

1:30pm: Acoustic animal songs for families with Paul from Electric duo, Poco Drom
