Anyone who knows a good cause which would benefit from raising funds through the Exeter Community Lottery is being encouraged to refer them to take part.

And there’s an extra incentive for anyone who does so – the chance to win £1,000!

Between January and 31 March anyone who refers a cause to the Exeter Community Lottery will be entered into a draw with the chance of winning £1,000 - along with a donation of up to £1,000 for the good cause.

There will be three draws, held at the end of January, February and March.

People can refer as many causes as they like. The winning referrer will be chosen and notified by the lottery provider.

Good causes referred to the Exeter Community Lottery are quickly assessed for eligibility and once accepted they can soon start raising money through ticket sales.

The aim is to find more good causes to benefit from funding via the proceeds of the lottery. Currently around 100 good causes are benefiting in Exeter.

When people play the weekly lottery they have a chance to choose which good cause to support. Fifty pence in every pound then goes to that cause, with 10p going towards the Exeter Central Fund.

The rest of the money pays for prizes and the administration of the lottery. Currently, good causes are set to benefit from a total of around £48,000 in the first 12 months.

Players of the lottery can also choose to nominate the money to a central fund, which then gets distributed among good causes.
