RAMM Reopening RAMM due to re-open

We are excited to announce that we are planning to re-open the RAMM (Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery) to the general public from Saturday 24 October 2020, Covid-19 restrictions permitting. We can’t wait to welcome visitors back! There will be some changes to how you visit the museum, so please read on to find out more.

Having closed the doors back in March in response to the pandemic, the museum has been operating with a reduced staff, and has used the opportunity to undertake some work to improve the accessibility of the building, and, importantly, to make the museum as safe as possible for the return of our visitors.

The staff have prepared new coronavirus measures to ensure that everyone is able to move around the museum safely and in accordance with government guidelines, and they are looking forward to welcoming guests once again.

The most notable new Covid measures is the introduction of a timed ticketing system, allowing the staff to better manage the flow of people through the museum. Entry to RAMM is still free, but all visitors will need to book a ticket online prior to their visit. Tickets will be available to book from Thursday 1 October.

A number of other changes have been introduced. A new one-way system will be in operation; you will now enter at the museum’s Garden Entrance to the rear of the building, and exit through the Queen Street doors. Visitor numbers will be reduced, screens have been introduced at key visitor/staff contact points, there will be clear physical distance markings on the floor inside and outside the buildings, and there will be frequent cleaning of key touchpoints throughout the museum.

The museum also ask you to do your part to help protect others by not entering the building if you are feeling unwell, wearing a face covering, keeping your distance – a giraffe’s stride apart! – and using the hand sanitiser provided.

From Saturday 24 October onward RAMM will be open from 10am to 5pm, Tuesday to Sunday.

Tickets will be available to book through the RAMM website from Thursday 1 October. For more information about the reopening and the new safety measures please visit rammuseum.org.uk/visiting-us
