The Green, Exeter

A building control team has been praised for its part in the success of an award-winning housing development in Exeter.

The Green – an eco-friendly development of 80 high-quality homes, just off Old Rydon Lane – was named Best High Volume New Housing Development at the 2023 LABC Building Excellence Awards.

Exeter City Council's Building Control team played a pivotal role in the scheme.

Cllr Emma Morse, Lead Councillor for City Development and Planning, said the success of the scheme was a testament to the team's expertise and commitment to sustainable construction.

“Their collaborative approach ensured adherence to building regulations and facilitated the project's seamless integration of modern aesthetics with traditional materials.”

Ian Collinson, City Development and Housing Director added: “This award highlights the exceptional capabilities of our Building Control team. Their dedication to ensuring safe and sustainable building practices has contributed to creating quality homes in Exeter and set a standard for future developments. It's a proud moment for our council and a reflection of our collective commitment to excellence in urban development."
