Popular Quay Cellar businesses open as normal during wall repair work

Businesses at Exeter Quayside are reminding people that they are open for business as normal during works to repair part of a landmark wall.

The popular Quay Cellar businesses and quayside footpath will remain open throughout the repair works.

A team of abseiling engineers are currently carrying out strengthening work on the wall above the cellar units at Exeter Quay.

Repair and stabilisation works are being carried out by the Council to a 105-metre stretch of cliff face wall.

The work, which includes masonry repairs, structural reinforcement, the installation of ‘anchors’ and replacement of rock-fall netting, is being carried out over an 11-week period.

Visual inspections of the masonry wall and cliff face were recently carried out and permission to carry out the works given the go-ahead by the Council’s planning committee.
