Nominations announced for Exeter’s next Lord Mayor and Deputy Cllr Kevin Mitchell and Cllr Tess Read

Cllr Kevin Mitchell has been nominated to become the next Lord Mayor of Exeter, the City Council has announced.

He was nominated at this week’s Executive meeting along with Cllr Tess Read as Deputy Lord Mayor.

Both will take up their positions in May, subject to being approved by Annual Council on 16 May.

Cllr Mitchell is a Liberal Democrat councillor for Duryard & St James. He is also Co-Leader of the Progressive Group. He was first elected as councillor in 2003.

In 2008/09 and 2011/12 Cllr Mitchell was Deputy Lord Mayor.

Cllr Tess Read, is a Green Party Councillor for the St David’s ward. She was first elected in 2022.
