New look poll cards will be arriving in envelopes in the coming days

New look poll cards New look poll cards

Residents are being asked to look out for their poll cards which are being delivered to homes in the city over the next few days.

Unusually this year the poll card is in an envelope, rather than being delivered as an A5 card without an envelope as in previous years.

The polling card is larger than usual and is paper rather than card.

That’s because it contains information on the photo ID all voters will need to bring with them to the polling station in order to vote in the local council elections on Thursday 4 May.

For the first time this year voters throughout the country will need photo ID to vote, after the Government recently introduced new legislation.

Acceptable ID includes things like a passport, driving licence or bus pass. A full list of acceptable photo ID will be highlighted on the polling cards.

If anyone doesn’t have photo ID the Council can help provide it for free. For more information visit our website: www.exeter.gov.uk/voterid
