New Community Infrastructure Levy Charging Schedule approved for 2024

Published: 22 December 2023

New Community Infrastructure Levy Charging Schedule approved for 2024 Community Infrastructure Levy Charging

Exeter’s new Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Charging Schedule will come into force on 1 January 2024 after it was approved by the Council on 12 December.

The new CIL Charging Schedule replaces in full the previous CIL Charging Schedule that was approved in 2013.

New CIL rates will apply to chargeable developments which are granted planning permission on or after 1 January 2024.

The old rates will continue to apply to chargeable developments which already had planning permission before 1 January 2024.

A development may be liable to pay CIL if it comprises residential development, co-living, purpose-built student accommodation or retail outside of the city centre.

Full details of the rates can be found on the City Council website: https://exeter.gov.uk/planning-services/payments-from-developers/community-infrastructure-levy-cil/cil-rates-and-calculation-of-liability/
