ECFC Cutouts Exeter City Football Club’s Grecian in the Ground initiative

The Lord Mayor of Exeter and the Leader of the City Council have already taken their places inside St James Park for tonight’s crucial League Two Play-off Semi-final second leg match versus Colchester United.

Cllr Peter Holland and Cllr Bialyk are seated in the Stagecoach Adam Stansfield Stand along with 1254 other Grecians fans…but as lifesize cut-outs.

The pair are backing Exeter City Football Club’s Grecian in the Ground initiative as they try and roar the team on to a potential Play-off Final at Wembley Stadium.

The initiative has given fans the opportunity to pay for a life-size recyclable polypropylene cut-out of themselves for the big game and any subsequent matches played behind closed doors.

Exeter trail Colchester 1-0 from the away first leg after finishing 5th in the curtailed League Two season. Both games are being played behind closed doors due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The overall winner will go through to a Play-off final at Wembley later in the month, with the prize of a place in Division One.

Lord Mayor Cllr Peter Holland, who is seated next to Exeter City Club legend Adam Stansfield, said he wished the Club well in their quest for promotion.

City Council Leader Phil Bialyk, who is pictured sat next to the Lord Mayor, said “This is a fantastic initiative – getting the fans behind the team for what promises to be a massive game at St James and supporting the club through these difficult times. I’m happy to be playing my part and can’t wait for the game.”
