Kevin’s set for another year as Lord Mayor Cllr Kevin Mitchell and Cllr Pul Knott

FORCE Cancer Charity is set to benefit from another year of fundraising from Exeter’s Lord Mayor.

Cllr Kevin Mitchell continues as Lord Mayor of Exeter for 2024/25, following a successful 12 months in post, in which he helped to raise so much awareness and around £15,000 towards the refurbishment of Exeter’s oncology department.

“Ian and I have absolutely loved our year in office,” he said. “It has been such a privilege to meet so many amazing individuals from all backgrounds in life as well as outstanding organisations who do so much for our city.”

Cllr Mitchell, who works as a cancer nurse, said the next 12 months fundraising would see a shift towards FORCE’s Let’s Face Cancer Together project which supports those with non-curative cancer. The project will enable specific tailored support to individuals and their loved ones.

Olly Watts, FORCE Head of Income Generation, said: “We can’t thank Cllr Mitchell enough for choosing FORCE Cancer Charity as the Lord Mayor’s charity for 2023/24.

“He not only helped us raise awareness of the work FORCE does to support local people affected by cancer but also provided a wonderful opportunity for some fantastic fundraising during his year in office.

“We are very much looking forward to working with The Lord Mayor again over the next 12 months. With Kevin’s special insight we hope that together, we can raise vital funds to support people in our area who are living with non-curable cancer.”

Kevin’s Deputy this year is Paul Knott, who has represented the Exwick ward since 2022. Paul is a well-known figure locally as he also runs The Thatched House Inn in Exwick with his wife Nataliya.
