People are being given the opportunity to have a go at bowls for free and experience the new facilities at Exeter’s Isca Centre.

To celebrate the installation of a striking new blue carpet at the bowls green and other upgrades at the Isca Centre, residents are being invited to try their hand at bowls for free.

The fully refurbished bowls rink is being opened up to everyone on Sunday 8 October, 9am to 3pm, for people to have a go at the popular indoor sport.

The Isca Centre recently enjoyed a major upgrade with new LED lighting which will enable regional tournaments to be televised, as well as the amazing new blue bowling arena.

Cllr Duncan Wood, Lead Councillor for Leisure Services and Physical Activity, said: “Bowls is a terrific sport for people of ages, from teenagers to retirees and the Isca Centre has eight rinks, with plenty of room to try out the sport.

“Bowls keeps you fit, is mentally engaging and is great way to get out and meet new people – why not give it a go on our lovely new bowls surface.”

Club Members will be on hand to show people the ropes and there will be demonstrations. Bowls will be supplied to those who wish to have a go.

People will also be able to pre -book slots if they wish on the Exeter Leisure app.

A complimentary high tea from the restaurant will be available during the day for any new bowler who books via the app.
