Get involved in the Great British Spring Clean Great British Spring Clean

People in Exeter are being invited to take part in the Great British Spring Clean.

The nationwide event takes runs from Friday 15 March to 31 March and the City Council is making free litter equipment available for the fortnight.

The Council has a range of litter pickers, high-visibility jackets, gloves and bags for anyone who wants to tidy up their neighbourhood, whether that’s individuals, community groups or schools.

This is the ninth Great British Spring Clean and organisers Keep Britain Tidy are encouraging groups and individuals to get involved by pledging to pick up bags of litter as part of the event. Last year a phenomenal 400,000 bags of litter were pledged to be collected.

People can find out more by visiting the Keep Britain Tidy website https://www.keepbritaintidy.org/

Cllr Ruth Williams, Lead Councillor for Place and City Management, said: “We have so many caring and community-minded people in Exeter who are happy to step in and keep their neighbourhoods tidy. Our cleansing teams do a great job to keep the city clean but the reality is they can’t be everywhere, all the time.”

Any groups or individuals who would like to book the equipment for a litter pick for The Great British Spring Clean or any other date is urged to contact the Council on 01392 262630.
