Garden waste collection set to resume in Exeter Brown bin collections

Garden waste collections in Exeter are set to return following a short suspension due to a shortage of drivers.

Brown bin collections will start up again on Monday (5 September) following a break of five weeks.

The Council was forced to suspend garden waste collections so that it could prioritise other statutory waste services such as household waste collection and recycling.

Cllr Ruth Williams, Lead Councillor for Recycling, Waste Management and Waterways, said: “Now that the summer holidays are ending we are able to restart the collections, although challenges in recruiting and retaining staff remain.

“I would like to apologise to all of our customers for the interruption of service and any inconvenience this may have caused.”

All garden waste collection customers in Exeter had their contract extended by two months to cover the suspension of service.
