Figures show Top 10 good causes benefitting from Exeter Community Lottery Exeter Community lottery

Latest figures have emerged showing the top 10 good causes benefitting from ticket sales of the Exeter Community Lottery.

More than 80 good causes from across the city have signed up to the Exeter Community Lottery, which has been running since the end of July.

When people play the weekly lottery they have a chance to choose which good cause to support. Fifty pence in every pound then goes to that cause, with 10p going towards the Exeter Central Fund. The rest of the money pays for prizes and the administration of the lottery. At the moment good causes are set to benefit from around £50,000 in total over the first 12 months.

Players of the lottery can also choose to nominate the money to a central fund which then gets distributed among good causes that are signed up.

And it’s that Central Fund that is currently proving the most popular among punters, with more people opting to support good causes across the whole of the city.

Cllr Martin Pearce, Lead Councillor with responsibility for communities, said: “It looks as if people are recognising that Exeter has so many community groups, organisations and charities that need help and are opting to support them across the board.

“However, the other option is for people to pick a good cause close to their heart and send the money directly to them.

“It’s great to be able to see the new data that is available and the most popular causes and it will be interesting to see how that changes over the coming months as good causes promote the lottery to their supporters.”

The current top ten causes benefitting from the Exeter Community Lottery are as follows

  • Exeter Community Lottery Central Fund
  • Exeter Strollers Walking Football Club
  • FREEMOOVEMENT
  • Sylvania Community Store and Café
  • Parental Minds CIC
  • South West MS Therapy Centre
  • Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) Development Trust
  • Heavitree Bowling Club
  • Devon Family History Society
  • Age UK Exeter
