Exeter’s RAMM shortlisted for a top tourism award Royal Albert Memorial Museum

Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum has been shortlisted as a finalist in the prestigious annual Devon Tourism Awards.

The museum has been shortlisted in the Large Visitor Attraction category, alongside Seaton Tramway, The Donkey Sanctuary and The Milky Way Adventure Park.

The Devon Tourism Awards are now in their 14th year and have continued to develop and modernise to reflect the ongoing innovation across tourism.

This year has seen a greater-than-ever focus on accessible and inclusive tourism as well as sustainability, customer service and digital excellence.

RAMM has been a finalist in a number of previous years, most recently winning Gold in the Accessible and Inclusive Tourism category last year, and taking another Gold in the 2021-2022 awards, this time for Accessible and Inclusive Tourism.

The last time the museum won the Large Visitor Attraction category was 2017.

Exeter City Council’s Deputy Leader Cllr Laura Wright, Lead Councillor for Culture, said: “The RAMM is one of Exeter’s most-loved and most treasured facilities which is right at the centre of cultural life in Exeter.

“It is fantastic that the museum and the work of its brilliant team has been recognised in this way by the prestigious Devon Tourism Awards – it’s a great achievement and I couldn’t be more pleased.”

Also shortlisted are Exeter Carnival, in the Tourism Event/Festival of the Year category and Exeter’s Princesshay in the Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism category.

Awards organiser Robin Barker said: “Each year I am astounded that tourism businesses can continue to innovate and reinvent themselves, and this year is no exception, with outstanding examples of excellence in all sectors.

“Huge congratulations to everyone, and many thanks to all our sponsors and partners for making the awards possible.”

The 23 award categories cover everything from glamping, hotels and attractions to dog friendly, experiences, cafes and unsung heroes. A Winner of Winners title and special Outstanding Contribution to Tourism award will also be presented during the awards evening on 16 November.
