Exeter Community Lottery raises £16,500 for good causes in first week Exeter Community Lottery

Exeter Community Lottery has raised more than £16,000 for good causes in just the first week of ticket sales.

Good causes across the city are set to benefit from the Community Lottery – with more than 60 groups and organisations already signed up - and a lucky ticket holder could scoop £25,000 when the first draw is made at the end of the month.

People are now being encouraged to play the Exeter Community Lottery and be in with a chance of winning the £25,000 jackpot.

There’s less than three weeks until the first draw takes place on 22 July…but still time to get those crucial tickets.

Hundreds of tickets have already been sold and people have a one in 50 chance of winning a prize.

Already some 61 community groups, organisations and good causes have signed up to the initiative - and it’s not too late either for groups to sign up and get involved.

When people buy tickets they can choose which cause they would like to support. Fifty pence in every pound goes directly to that cause, while 10p goes into a central pot which will be shared among good causes throughout the city.

A guaranteed 60 per cent of the ticket proceeds will go to good causes, with the remainder being put towards prizes and operating costs.

Cllr Martin Pearce, Lead Councillor with responsibility for Communities, said: “Now it’s down to the people of Exeter to get behind the Community Lottery and help support the community groups, organisations and good causes that make up the heartbeat of this great city.”

People will need to make sure they have a ticket before the first draw is made on 22 July. Draws will then take place on a weekly basis.
