Congratulations Ollie Watkins

Congratulations to former Exeter City Football Club player Ollie Watkins for making his full England debut last night…and scoring his first international goal.
That’s the message from Exeter City Council following the World Cup qualifying match against San Marino at Wembley Stadium, in which England triumphed 5-0.
“It’s lovely to see one of Exeter’s own reach the top of their game,” said Catherine Hill, Exeter City Council’s Service Lead for Culture, Leisure and Tourism.
“Hopefully, Ollie’s achievements will inspire other youngsters to get involved in sport, enjoy a lifetime of activity, the benefits this brings to health and wellbeing, and maybe, just maybe one day achieve similar things,” she added.
Ollie was born in Torquay but grew up in Newton Abbot, joining Exeter City’s Academy at under-11 level.
He made 68 league appearances for the Grecians scoring 21 goals before joining Brentford in 2017.
In 2020 he transferred to Aston Villa before receiving his England call-up last week.
