Chance to attend Exeter Plan consultation events

Published: 4 December 2023

The Exeter Plan

People in Exeter have a chance to help shape the future of the city this week at two public consultation events.

The events for the Exeter Plan take place on Tuesday (5 December) at Alphington Village Hall – 1pm to 7pm – and on Thursday (7 December) at Positive Lights in Sidwell Street from 1pm to 7pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The Exeter Plan is the blueprint for how the city will develop over the next 20 years.

It brings together the City Council’s key objectives for a healthy active city, for more housing built on brownfield sites to protect greenspace and create liveable neighbourhoods, a net zero carbon city, thriving culture and heritage and a prosperous local economy.

While Exeter, like all cities, has been significantly affected by Covid-19, and the current economic climate, the City Council retains a longer-term ambition for a growing, thriving city that is attractive to business investment and high-value jobs.

This vision is reflected in the Exeter Plan, the city’s blueprint for how Exeter will develop over the next 20 years.

The Plan sets out policies that will support the economy and green growth by identifying the employment space and infrastructure we need. This will help to increase prosperity and wellbeing.

Cllr Emma Morse, Portfolio Holder for City Development, said: “Exeter is the economic heart of the region and has one of the fastest growing economies in the UK.

“The economy policies in the Exeter Plan seek to develop the potential of the city for economic growth with a focus on ensuring the benefits of jobs, skills and training are available to all.”
