Celebrate International Women’s Day at Exeter Corn Exchange Promoting Choice / Families

International Women's Day is being celebrated with a free event in the city centre. The event is being organised by Promoting Choice (Promoting Choice / Families — CoLab Exeter)

The annual celebration is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

It is also a day to raise awareness about gender inequality and advocate for women's rights. The first IWD was celebrated in 1911 - since then it has become an important annual event.

The International Women’s Day event takes place on Wednesday 8 March at Exeter Corn Exchange, Market Street, from 10am to 3pm. All activities, workshops and entertainment are free.

It will include a variety of fun activities for all ages, including self-defence and empowerment classes, creative wellbeing sessions, movement and yoga, milestone keepsake keyring making and holistic craft activities.

This year’s theme is #EmbraceEquity which aligns with the mission of Promoting Choice, a partnership project between Colab Exeter Resilient Women Service and SPLITZ Domestic Abuse Service.

The team at Promoting Choice aims to improve access to preconception, perinatal, post-natal, and early years care for women and their families, with a focus on removing barriers that prevent women from accessing the services they need to thrive.

A variety of other organisations will also take part including Fear-less, Together Drug and Alcohol Services, and More Positive Me, providing valuable resources and support to women and their families.
