Businesses asked to continue be patient with new lockdown grants

Published: 19 January 2021

Grants Update Grants Update

Businesses in Exeter interested in applying for a range of ‘lockdown’ grants are being asked to stay patient until the schemes are ready to roll out.

The Council is hoping to open applications during next week (week commencing 25 January.)

Earlier this month the Chancellor announced new lockdown grants to support businesses. This included top-up grants for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses worth up to £9,000 per property to help businesses through to the Spring, and a discretionary fund to support other impacted businesses.

Exeter City Council's Lead Councillor for City Centre and Corporate Services, Cllr Ollie Pearson, said: “We know these grants are a vital lifeline for businesses and our staff are working as quickly as possible to get these schemes live.

“We anticipate all schemes in development, including the LRSG Open Scheme and Additional Restrictions Grant to be open for applications next week and we thank businesses for their patience,” he added.

“We ask businesses to hold off from contacting the Council at this time for more information as officers are busy working on getting the grants live. Instead please check the Covid-19 Business Support Grants Overview web page at https://exeter.gov.uk/BusinessSupportGrants/ as this is being updated regularly. Detailed eligibility criteria for each new scheme will be added to that page on Thursday.”
