Valley parks show Spring in full bloom with floral displays

Published: 18 March 2022

Now’s the perfect time to get out and about and experience the delights of Spring in Exeter’s beautiful Valley Parks. These pictures were captured in Ludwell Valley Park on a bright mid-March morning.

As fresh flowers and plans break into bloom, March is a great month to see the emerging celandines, primroses, bluebells and daffodils in Exeter’s Valley Parks.

Exeter has more than 250 acres of public open space including six Valley Parks managed by Devon Wildlife Trust.

People will find benches and picnic areas along the way, as well as dog bins. There are more challenging and hilly routes for some, as well as cycling routes for exploring greater distances.

Getting out in the countryside has been proven to benefit mental health and the City Council is leading the way in social prescribing.

The six Valley Parks in Exeter are:

  • Ludwell
  • Mincinglake
  • Riverside
  • Barley
  • Whitycombe
  • Duryard & Belvidere
