Unique dining experience aboard The SNARK at Exeter Canal Basin The SNARK

This winter The SNARK, a striking green sailing ship, will be berthed at Exeter Canal Basin to serve as a floating restaurant.

Guests are invited aboard from October to March to enjoy home-cooked food and carefully selected drinks.

The SNARK offers pre-paid reservations only, seating up to 24 people in a single sitting at shared tables. Private functions for up to 32 guests can be arranged.

Guests are encouraged to socialise, as meals are served in a communal setting with platters and bowls shared among the tables. A range of wines, beers, and soft drinks are available for purchase over the counter.

The SNARK is a traditional seagoing sailing ship providing sailing holidays in the summer and onboard dining in the winter.

Earlier this year she sailed around the English and French coasts before returning to the Canal Basin along the Exeter Ship Canal.

Qiao and Paul, the owners and crew, named SNARK after the Lewis Carroll poem The Hunting of the Snark - an allegory for the pursuit of happiness.

Last year the vessel took part in the Exeter Heritage Harbour Festival, a two-day event celebrating the city’s maritime history.

This winter people can join the crew on board to share great food, wines and beers and good company on shared tables with seasonal set menus of wholesome home cooking.
