Take advantage of free tennis sessions

Cowick Barton Tennis Courts Public courts at Cowick Barton Playing Fields

People are being requested to make tennis their game, set and match this weekend and get involved in free tennis sessions.

Tennis for Free (TFF) returns to the public tennis courts at Cowick Barton Playing Fields in St Thomas, Exeter, on Saturday morning (5 March).

The sessions will run from 8am until 8:45am for families (parents and their children) and 9am to 10am for adults only, every Saturday throughout the spring and summer. People need to register online to take advantage of the sessions.

The sessions are being e delivered by Tennis for Free Lead Coach Steve Ashton.

Steve said: “I can’t wait to get back on court again at Cowick Barton for the Tennis For Free scheme.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed delivering these sessions over the last four years. The sessions are for people of all ages and abilities and all equipment is provided. I look forward to seeing you there.”

Cowick Barton isn’t the only place in Exeter where the TFF sessions are being run.

Sessions also take place at the City-Council run courts in Heavitree Pleasure Grounds. The sessions which have been continuing over the winter, are run by LTA coach Bradley Rickard, and take place on Saturday mornings between 10am and 11am.

Bradley said: “Heavitree is currently the highest attended session in the country and we'd happily welcome more new faces!”

The weekly sessions are run by national sports charity Tennis For Free in partnership with the LTA and Exeter City Council.
