Suppliers event is a showcase for businesses to become more sustainable

Published: 9 October 2024

A free event in Exeter will introduce suppliers to the Council’s Green Accord accreditation scheme and provide advice on how to become more sustainable.

The Sustainable Suppliers Event is mainly aimed at the construction and housing sector and is for existing and potential future suppliers to the Council.

Breakfast will be provided and suppliers can learn how to improve the sustainability of their business and reduce costs with the Green Accord.

The event takes place at the Studio Room, Matford Centre, Marsh Barton, EX2 8FD, on Thursday 28 November, from 8.30am to 11am.

Cllr Matt Vizard, Lead Councillor for Climate, Ecological Change and Communities, said: “Exeter City Council is making a real difference by promoting and reinforcing sustainable businesses and best practice in Exeter across the supply chain through our Green Accord scheme.

“This is a great example of how we are leading the city’s response to the climate emergency, reducing environmental impacts and carbon emissions to help reach our Net Zero goals.”

Suppliers will be able to learn about the Green Accord and how it can be used to reduce carbon and costs, as well as winning new business opportunities.

There will be an opportunity to:

  • View electric vans and e-cargo bike models for business use from the Bike Shed and others
  • Hear from other Green Accord accredited businesses in the construction sector
  • Meet Exeter City Council procurement specialists and learn how to supply to the Council
  • Meet representatives from South West Procurement Alliance and Tender Victory to enhance your business’s success
