Postal votes for General Election sent out

People in Exeter who applied for a postal vote in next month’s General Election are set to receive these over the next few days.
Exeter City Council yesterday sent out postal votes to everyone who had applied – 11,500 in total within the Exeter constituency.
People will need to vote and complete the paperwork before returning the envelope to the City Council – the easiest way to do this is via Royal Mail.
The General Election will take place across the UK on Thursday 4 July, with polling stations open across the city from 7am to 10pm.
Whilst people are encouraged to return their postal vote by Royal Mail, it is possible to return a postal vote to a polling station within the Exeter constituency, on the day of the elections, or at the Civic Centre (during opening hours of 9am to 2pm) in the days leading up to the 4th July. However new regulations – introduced as part of the Elections Act 2022 - have now come into force regarding this, meaning that those handing them in will be required to complete a form, and hand it over to an authorised person. If the form is not completed, then the postal vote will be rejected.
