Play your part in helping end homelessness and rough sleeping

People in Exeter are being asked to have their say on a new strategy to help prevent homelessness and rough sleeping in the city.

The City Council has launched an online feedback survey as part of the consultation on the new draft Homelessness & Rough Sleeping prevention Strategy 2023-2027.

The strategy document has been drafted by bringing together valuable feedback from key partners working at the frontline of homelessness services together with the most recent data and analysis of core needs.

The Council has set out its overall vision and proposed some principles recommended to reduce homelessness.

Alongside the recent public consultations undertaken by the councillor-led homelessness scrutiny group, a set of strategic priorities has been drafted.

Cllr Martin Pearce, Lead Councillor for Communities and Homelessness Prevention, said: “It’s really important to hear from as many people as possible to get their views on the strategy. It’s vital that we get this right and ensure we are doing all we can to make homelessness a thing of the past. No-one in the city should be sleeping rough.”

The online survey will run to until 16 December and the key findings will be shared with all stakeholders and uploaded to the Council website early in the New Year.

The draft strategy will then be updated with the intention being to publish the final version by the end of February when stakeholders will be invited to participate in the production of a set of action plans to tackle homelessness and rough sleeping.
