Matford Centre – so much more than a livestock centre

Published: 5 October 2021

Exeter’s Matford Centre is so much more than a livestock centre, the team that run it are keen to point out.

Staff from the City Council-run venue want  to let everyone know that the Centre can be used for a wide range of functions.

Matford Centre Manager Helen Coombes, said: “The Centre is also an exhibition and entertainment venue with a variety of conference facilities.”

Helen is keen to get the message out about the wide variety of things that go on down at the Marsh Barton venue, besides selling cows, sheep and other livestock.

“The indoor concourse is suitable for events for up to 1,500 people and regularly hosts dog shows, food festivals, antique fairs, boxing shows, business exhibitions and even wedding receptions. The versatile facilities lend themselves to almost any kind of event,” she added.

“The Centre has plenty of free car parking for visitors, it has level access throughout and we have recently completed a refurbishment of our toilet facilities.

“We have three conference/meeting/training rooms that offer flexibility of space and a variety of room layouts, and people have the opportunity to complement their meeting with a full range of buffet lunches from our on-site restaurant. All rooms include screens, projectors, flip charts and unlimited hot and cold drinks, and don’t forget delegates can park for free!”

The Studio is a new room which has been designed to provide a versatile space, so any organisations that would be interested in hiring these facilities should contact Helen Coombes on 01392 665930 or email helen.coombes@exeter.gov.uk

“The Centre also has gazebos and tables available for hire, so please spread the word if you know anyone that might benefit from this,” said Helen.
