Just weeks until the elections – make sure you’re ready to vote
Published: 7 March 2024
With only eight weeks to go until the elections, people in Exeter are being reminded to make sure they are eligible to vote.
Elections for the City Council and the Police and Crime Commissioner for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly will take place on Thursday 2 May, with polling stations open across the city from 7am to 10pm.
It’s vital that people are on the electoral register if they want to vote, especially with a parliamentary election also expected within the year ahead.
People who are not already on the electoral register can register to vote by visiting the Electoral Commission website at https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/i-am-a/voter/register-vote-and-update-your-details
Many residents elect to vote by post and postal applications in Exeter are now open. Registering for a postal vote is easy and can be done online on the City Council website at exeter.gov.uk/postalvotes/
Once again, all voters on the day will need to ensure that they have the correct voter identification to hand. The City Council will be sending out details of what is needed along with polling cards nearer the elections. To find out more about voter ID, visit the Electoral Commission website at https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/
