Have your say on exciting new car-free trail

People are being given an opportunity to have their say on a proposed new car-free trail linking Pinhoe and Topsham.

The Clyst Valley Trail will be a recreational and commuter route for cyclists, walkers, mobility scooters and where feasible, horse riders.

Devon County Council and East Devon District Council are in the early design stage of the Trail and have launched a consultation. People have until Friday 10 June to provide feedback on the proposals.

The multiuse route will connect Exeter with nearby towns and villages to the east. This attractive route will be accessible for all users and passes through historic parkland and river valleys. Users will be able to enjoy the surroundings of the new Clyst Valley Regional Park as they pass through beautiful countryside along the way.

The 13 km (8 mile) route will join up with the Exe Estuary Trail and link 12,000 new homes and 10,000 new jobs in Exeter and East Devon, including Cranbrook. More than 40,000 people will directly benefit from the route.

The Trail will also provide an attractive, safe, and direct commuter route between towns and villages along the River Clyst and Exeter, Cranbrook and surrounding employment areas in the Exeter and East Devon Enterprise Zone and Winslade Park.

Anyone can take part in the consultation but organisers are especially hoping that people who work and travel in the area will have their say.

There will also be an opportunity to talk to the consultation team at the Bishops Clyst (Clyst St Mary and Sowton) Parish Council meetings on Wednesday 1 June at 7pm at Clyst St Mary Church.
