Grants on offer to homeowners making energy efficiency improvements Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)

A grant is on offer to landlords and homeowners to help access funding for energy efficiency improvements.

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is now open for applications.

Landlords, as well as owner-occupiers, can now apply for grants of up to £5,000 off the cost and installation of an air source heat pump or a biomass boiler, and up to £6,000 off the cost and installation of a ground source heat pump.

Hybrid heat pump systems (combination of a gas boiler and air source heat pump) are not eligible.

These grants are available now until 2025 with payments made directly to the installer and discounted from the price charged.

The scheme is open to domestic and small non-domestic properties with an installation capacity up to 45kWth (this covers most homes) and with a current Energy Performance Certificate with no outstanding recommendations for loft or cavity wall insulation.

The property upgrades can help tenants to reduce their heating bills and also help landlords improve their property portfolio.

Further details of the grant can be found on the Government website

If grant funding is accessed for energy efficiency improvements a Lendology CIC loan can be used to top-up any shortfall needed to complete the works.
