Good causes urged to sign up to the Exeter Community Lottery

Published: 8 August 2023

Exeter Community Lottery raises £16,500 for good causes in first week Exeter Community Lottery

There’s still time for community groups and good causes to sign up to the Exeter Community Lottery and start benefitting from ticket sales.

The Community Lottery has been running for a couple of weeks now, with three weekly Saturday evening draws already taking place.

Every week ticket holders are in with a chance of winning £25,000, and people have a one in 50 chance of winning a prize.

Cllr Martin Pearce, Lead Councillor with Responsibility for Communities, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for people in the city to give money to support local good causes.

“We’ve got art groups, history groups, sports groups and we’ve even got school groups that have signed up. In fact, there’s every aspect of our community represented.

“I would encourage everybody to go to the Exeter Community Lottery website, look at the whole list of good causes that are on there, sign up and get yourself a ticket and maybe you can win a prize as well. This is all about supporting good causes and putting money back into our community.”

More than 80 community groups, organisations and good causes from across Exeter have signed up to the Community Lottery and will get a slice of ticket proceedings.

And groups and good causes can sign up and join Exeter Community Lottery at any stage – it’s never too late to get involved.

When people buy tickets they can choose which cause they would like to support. Fifty pence in every pound then goes to that cause, while 10p goes to a central pot for good causes.

A guaranteed 60 per cent of the ticket proceeds goes to good causes – currently that figure stands at over £47,000, but will increase as ticket sales rise.

Tickets cost just £1 (via direct debit or debit card) with the following prizes up for grabs:

  • Match six balls and win £25,000
  • Match five balls and win £2,000
  • Match four balls and win £250
  • Match three balls and win £25
  • Match two balls and win three tickets

Draws take place every Saturday at 8pm with winners notified by email. Players can choose which cause to support when playing the Exeter Community Lottery.
